Customers are mixed about the ease of cleaning the food processor. Some mention that the bowl and lids are reasonably easy to clean, the paddles will wipe clean, and it washes up perfectly in the top rack of their dishwasher. However, others say that it is not the easiest to clean and the serrated chopping blade will catch on. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
- It's so quiet. Making mayonnaise is a frequent event at our house and this is a pleasure. No more teeth-gritting.
-The simple lid without the chute IS A DREAM TO CLEAN
-The old model collected a lot of water in the chambers that held the safety mechanism, and the handle. Eventually, this developed mildew (honestly we should've replaced it a long time ago for this reason). This model seems like it will not have this problem.
-The safety is a little tight (locking the bowl and getting the lid to activate the safety), this might improve with use.
-No dough blade, but then, we never really used that thing.
-The chute construction is a little baffling. There's flexible plastic clippy type thing, clear sliding parts, a black pusher. I've yet to use it. It seems okay, and as above with the mildew problem of the old model, seems like it will dry out completely.
-Paddle operation is nice. The old model had the plastic covering over buttons which were wearing out and breaking. The paddles will wipe clean, and offer very efficient control (no more button mashing, especially when pulsing).
-The cord keeper! Oh, this is a dream. A little strappy thing that means no more winding the cord around the unit to keep it from dangling off the prep table. This is better than a retractable cord that could malfunction.
In summary: Well done, product engineers.
Honestly, I considered one of those other units that does all the things like spiralizing etc. but this Cuisinart is a trusty workhorse. It's simply well designed, it does what it does perfectly, and our $20 hand-spiralizer works just fine.
Update two days later with egg on my face:
I apologize to Amazon and Cuisinart. I was wrong about this appliance. If everyone who gave this a one star would read this, your appliance may work. Mine is not defective. I was trying to put the lid on backwards. My old Cuisinart food processor had the bowl handle and the feed chute lined up together. With this new model, it is just the opposite. When you face the processor you will see the handle. The food chute should be 180 degrees from the handle. Now I am happy again. I even had it all packed up to send back when my husband asked me if I had tried the reverse of what we were trying to do. I thought I had, but apparently I hadn't. So we unpacked it and tried the reverse and WA-LA. It worked just fine.
Cuisinart, please add this to your instructions. It sure would be helpful and would save many frustrations.
Many of the negative reviews here seem to have been written by people who don’t have the patience one needs to operate this sort of machine. The parts do take some experimenting before you understand how to put them together and take them apart, but once you finish assembling them it works beautifully.
One thing I will not use it for is mixing and kneading bread dough; I’m doubtful that it would do a better job at that than doing this by hand. I’ve done that by hand (as people have done for centuries) for years, and it’s good exercise for your hands and arms!
To sum it up: take plenty of time to learn how to use this thing (especially if you have never used a food processor before), handle it carefully, and learn how to cook and bake the old-fashioned way so you don’t have to rely on the processor to do everything for you.
